Institutional agreements

Institutional agreements simplify the process for authors wishing to publish in our journals and contribute to the growing number of research articles that are openly available to all.

Institutional partnerships

We work with research institutions, libraries, consortia, and funders to support their researchers publish open access. In 2021, 64 new institutional members joined us, including the University of Oslo, Durham University, the Italian Research Council (CNR) and the Taiwanese National Health Research Institutes (NHRI).

National agreements

We have six fully transparent national open access publishing agreements for research organizations and their researchers in Austria, Sweden, Qatar, the UK, Norway and most recently Luxembourg.

Publishing partnerships

In 2021 Frontiers established seven new partnerships with societies and other organisations, including our first partnership in China with Zhejiang University to launch their new journal, Aerospace Research Communications in 2022.

Through our publishing partnerships, we have facilitated the transition of 1,063 articles to open access making them freely available to read for the first time, having formerly been published behind a paywall.
